We all have opinions lest we become unfeeling to the world around us and the plight of the less fortunate. I was deeply troubled to read your recent blog regarding Jim. Your unwillingness to condemn and your compassion for his plight is a shining example of WWJD. I think the opportunity you have to share a loving opinion on the subject, is refreshing and something that will leave a lasting impression and impact on anyone who reads your blog. Our actions often have an undesirable effect and Jim's were unmistakably wrong especially in light of the long term effects to the child and her family. Saddly, some people just don't think. I'll say "shame" because I am no as good as you and can only imagine the man has good in him as well as the ability to inflict emotional pain on others. Indeed, his actions by his own admission, are unthinkable for most heterosexuals and maddening for any parent of which I am one, two times over. I do find it easy to forgive only because I have sinned and believe I have been forgiven. Still, I applaud you for your compassion for someone you stand by and call friend. All too often, we are hasty to throw people aside, and I do believe a lesser man than you would have disassociated from an outcast in the hopes of keeping a safe distance and thus keep his own names seemingly squeaky clean. Compassion is not always an easy emotion to put into action yet we are called to love one another. I prayed for an answer and was given prayer as the answer. I too will pray for the children and for the men who abuse them. May it not define their lives and may God's healing be swift and complete.
